The Artists for Kids charity event at KARE Kraftwerk

The 20th anniversary of « Artists for Kids » was celebrated at KARE Kraftwerk with numerous personalities from the worlds of film, art and business, lots of entertainment, a great auction and the occasional glass of champagne – all for a good cause, of course. KARE founders Peter Schönhofen and Jürgen Reiter are not only long-standing supporters of the organisation but also hosted the anniversary charity event at KARE Kraftwerk.
ARTISTS FOR KIDS AT THE KRAFTWERK
The event kicked off at around 7 a.m., when the first guests arrived for the champagne reception, flying buffet and sale of tombola tickets. Celebrity support came from Michael Bully Herbig, Max von Thun, Axel Milberg and Oscar winner Gerd Nefzer. AFK board member and patroness Nina Eichinger presented the evening’s programme, while Munich comedian and special guest Harry G provided the entertainment and ensured a lively atmosphere full of humour. Further top highlights were live portraits by painter and Pumuckl artist Barbara von Johnson, the graffiti artist Loomit der Sprayer, who painted our legendary KARE design object « Toto » live, as well as photographer Mike Meyer, who provided a lot of fun with his White Cube photo box.
BEHIND ARTISTS FOR KIDS
In 1999 the celebrated film producer Bernd Eichinger founded the charity « Artists for Kids » together with his business partners Thomas Peter Friedl and Thomas Beck. The charity looks after and supports disadvantaged Munich children and young people and rescues them from difficult circumstances. In 20 years the founders have managed to help 3500 children, teenagers and their families, raising nearly 10 million euros in donations and encouraging artists to get involved.
The donation money for the charity event at the KARE Kraftwerk is also impressive: Proud 50,000 euros has been get together for a good cause!
