How to fill your home with the feeling of holiday, sandy beaches and sunny summer tranquility.
When warm summer days come along we all start to think about airy, light and bright ideas for our furnishing and decorations. Natural materials and a sandy colour palette form the perfect basis when you restyle your home for the summer. Think of an idyll on the beach with undulating sand dunes, driftwood bleached nearly white by the sun, sea shells, green shadows cast by the grass on the dunes, the leaves of olive trees, succulents and cacti. All this combined with the vivid blue of the sky and the gentle lapping of waves on the sand. This is the ideal furnishing concept for the creation of a fresh, serene and harmonious atmosphere in either the living room or the bedroom.atmosphere in either the living room or the bedroom.
Light-coloured, solid wood in natural shades and a matt lacquered finish, accessories made from driftwood, Mediterranean plants and decorative book covers which you have made yourself from old maps sold at the flea market – that’s all it takes to create this delicate summer look in your home.
Top furnishing tip: create dashes of colour
Anyone who loves exotic decorations and brilliant colours can add to the natural summer look with decorative touches. You could paint a wall in a striking colour, or strategically position your favourite brightly coloured decorative bits and pieces such as the retro telephone, cushions, lanterns and ceramic bowls. To maintain the harmonious basic atmosphere, it’s best to stick to a particular colour family. Our Puro collection features solid wood with carved fronts in a wide range of designs, and includes small dressers, wardrobes, dining tables, desks and a great deal more.
Traditional carvings enhance every article in the Puro range. This collection is created for us from solid mango wood, which is highly popular in modern furniture making because of its friendly, beautiful grain and robustness. In addition, the idea of using mango wood for furniture conserves natural resources. This is because mango trees are cultivated on plantations, initially for the production of fruit. Farmers can harvest mangoes for around 15 years, but after that the crop begins to shrink, which means that it makes sound ecological sense to use the wood afterwards for the purpose of making furniture.
Top furnishing tip: in your summer tone-on-tone interiors you can play with structures and materials, which adds aesthetic tension to your rooms. Woven cotton meets natural linen, while flokati rugs can be draped over stools with embroidery. Combine rough with smooth surfaces and on them place lanterns with cut or wickerwork ornamentation.
“I wanted to create a furniture series which would touch the emotions. These decorative carvings, the velvety surfaces of the mango wood and the authentic craftsmanship create a real natural charisma”, states Jürgen Reiter, KARE co-founder with responsibility for designing the company’s collections. How perfectly Puro also matches the Mediterranean furnishing style is demonstrated by Majorca star estate agent Marcel Remus. On the VOX TV channel’s “Die Auswanderer” (the expatriates) series, Marcel regularly presents fabulous luxury fincas on this island paradise.
In the programme on 26 June 2017 the subject is a stylish department directly by the sea. Through its windows we see palm trees and the glittering sea, while inside the interior designers of the KARE Shop in Santa Ponsa/Mallorca have created an airy ambience, with dressers and a dining table from the Puro collection. While the apartment’s owner also wanted to add a fresh modern twist to her living and dining area, the furnishing experts combined the wooden furniture with cream white ceramic crockery, wine and water glasses in transparent blue, and modern photographic art on the walls. This includes the glass picture “Swimming elephant”, which reflects the blue and turquoise shades of the sea and the table decoration, combining them with an exotic photographic motif.
